$200,000 Gift Elevates 2026 Lenny Peters Cup as World Champion Team USA Women Headline International Regatta
HIGH POINT, N.C. — The Lenny Peters Cup, already recognized for bringing elite international rowing to Oak Hollow Lake, will reach new heights this fall thanks to a $200,000 gift from the Lenny Peters Foundation to event host Triad United Rowing Association.
Members of the Peters family, Elise Peters-Carey and Matt Carey, representatives of the Lenny Peters Foundation, and staff from Bethany Medical joined Triad United Rowing Association Head Coach and Race Director Gene Kininmonth this week for a check presentation announcing the investment in the international regatta, which will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Oak Hollow Festival Park.
"These funds will allow us to continue elevating the athlete and spectator experience at the Lenny Peters Cup," said Kininmonth. "We'll once again produce a seven-camera live broadcast on YouTube so rowing fans around the world can watch the racing, while our giant video screen on-site will let spectators follow every stroke from the shoreline."
The regatta will again feature marquee races between leading NCAA rowing programs and top European universities.
Kininmonth also announced the event's biggest headline attraction.
"We're thrilled to welcome the reigning World Champion USA Women's Four to High Point," he said. "Our defending world champions will headline the regatta against a top European crew that will be announced soon. It's an incredible opportunity for fans to see the very best athletes in the world compete right here in North Carolina."
The lineup for defending World Champion USA Women's Four in High Point will be Kate Knifton, Teal Cohen, Azja Czajkowski, and Molly Bruggeman.
Admission to the Lenny Peters Cup is free, with activities designed for the entire family. In addition to international rowing competition, visitors can enjoy food trucks, beer sales, vendor exhibits, and the popular dog competition throughout the day.
Since its inception, the Lenny Peters Cup has grown into one of North Carolina's premier international sporting events, attracting thousands of spectators and generating an estimated more than $2 million in annual economic impact for the Piedmont Triad. The regatta is widely regarded as one of the Southeast's leading rowing events.
