Caileigh Filmer Joins World Team to Race USA for Lenny Peters Cup

High Point, North Carolina - Triple Olympic rower Caileigh Filmer of Canada has been selected to the World Team to race Team USA for the Lenny Peters Cup in North Carolina on April 12, the LPC Race Committee has announced.
"I’ve always wanted to take part in a race like this, competing alongside some of the best rowers in the world. Being able to join the World Team and race against Team USA for the Lenny Peters Cup is an incredible opportunity to be part of something bigger than just the competition, says Caileigh. "It’s about coming together with passionate athletes, sharing the experience, and representing Canada in such a meaningful event."
Being a part of a motivated team has always been a source of fulfillment for Caileigh. She is a 3X Olympian (Rio, Tokyo, Paris) and an Olympic medal winner at two of those Games. At the Tokyo Olympics Caileigh won the bronze in the women's pairs event. In Paris she was a member of Canada's silver medal winning women's eight crew. Caileigh was crowned World Champion in the women's pairs event in 2018 and is a 5x Canadian National Champion in the pairs event.
Race director Gene Kininmonth said he is excited to have Caileigh join the world team. “Caileigh Filmer is just a massive name in North American rowing. We wanted to see the Canada represented at the Lenny Peters Cup and recruiting Caileigh is a real coup. We have eight Paris Olympians coming from across the globe to race Team USA. They have all won Olympic medals and Caileigh's considerable Olympic experience and world championship wins makes her an easy selection for the world team,” said Kininmonth.
Caileigh grew up in Victoria, British Columbia where she started rowing at the age of 13. She graduated from Mount Douglas Secondary in 2014 and started at the University of California in fall of 2014. With the Cal Golden Bears she was a member of their winning PAC 12 Championship varsity eight crew in 2015, which went on to finish second at NCAAs.
Caileigh then transferred to the University of Victoria to focus on her Olympic quest.
Today Caileigh is pursuing the Fire Fighting Technologies Certificate at JIBC. Looking ahead, she aims to begin her full-time work as a firefighter while also continuing her rowing career starting in fall 2025.
