The Dragon Boats are Coming to High Point!
The High Point Autumn Rowing Festival is calling on our local heroes and community leaders! As part of the Dr. Lenny Peters Cup, we are offering FREE registration for community organizations—including local schools, police departments, fire stations, first responders, active military, and local non-profits—to enter a dragon boat team and compete on Oak Hollow Lake.
Whether you’re representing your school, taking a departmental rivalry out onto the water, or bringing your non-profit team together for an unforgettable day, this is your chance to showcase your community spirit.
What You Need to Assemble Your Boat
No prior rowing or paddling experience is needed! Each boat requires a 21-person team roster:

20 Paddlers: The muscle and heart of the boat working in rhythm.

1 Drummer: The beats and energy keeper setting your team's pace.

1 Steersperson: Provided by the race organizers so your team can focus strictly on paddling!
Tip: We recommend registering up to 4 alternate paddlers to ensure your boat is fully staffed on race day.
How to Claim Your Free Community Registration
1. Designate a Team Captain
Choose one person to manage your registration, communicate details to your team, and coordinate your training schedule.
2. Register Online with Your Organization Code
Head to the official festival registration page on RegattaPortal.com. Select the Community / Heroes Division and use your qualified organization email (e.g., school district, municipal, emergency services, or 501(c)(3) email address) to waive the entry fee automatically at checkout.
3. Submit Roster & Digital Waivers
Your captain will receive a link for all 21 team members to sign their digital participant waivers online before arriving at the lake.
4. Schedule Your Free Pre-Race Practice Session
Every free community registration includes a complimentary practice session! Professional coaches will get your crew on the water prior to race day to teach basic paddle strokes, sync up your rhythm, and go over race commands.
