Olympian Aquil Abdullah to Commentate the Lenny Peters Cup

If you were at the water’s edge last October, you know exactly why this is big news. We are ecstatic to announce that Olympic rower and premier rowing analyst Aquil Abdullah is officially returning to High Point to provide expert commentary for the Lenny Peters Cup.

After a stellar debut behind the mic here last fall, Aquil is back by popular demand to bring his signature blend of technical brilliance and Olympic-level insight to our local shores.

A Global Icon, A Local Favorite

Aquil Abdullah’s resume is the stuff of rowing legend. While he isn't a High Point native, he has quickly become an essential part of our racing community’s story.

• A Trailblazer: As the first African American male to row for Team USA in the Olympics (Athens 2004), Aquil brings a level of prestige that few in the world can match.

• The Gold Standard of Commentary: Since retiring from competitive rowing, he has mastered the art of the broadcast, famously calling the action for the Henley Royal Regatta and major national championships.

• Back by Popular Demand: After his incredible work at the microphone last October, it was clear that the Lenny Peters Cup wouldn't be the same without his play-by-play.
